Environmental protection with a child’s eye – Award ceremony of Holcim’s drawing competition

Holcim Magyarország Kft. announced its drawing competition in December 2023 in accordance with its sustainability objectives. The purpose of the competition is to encourage the environmentally conscious and green thinking of those under the age of 18. The call received more than 300 entries from 30 educational institutions in 9 settlements. Out of the submitted projects, the jury awarded a total of 27 projects in 3 categories. The institutions of the winning applicants received a total award of about HUF 1,300,000.

The strategic objective of Holcim Magyarország Kft. is to achieve net carbon neutral operation by 2040. In accordance with this, Holcim is committed to the promotion of sustainable and environmentally conscious thinking, and the priority target group of its activities are representatives of the young generation in addition to the local population. The aim of the company’s environmental drawing competition was to encourage environmentally conscious thinking among young people.

Holcim’s environmental drawing competition received more than 300 entries from 30 educational institutions in 9 settlements. The jury consisting of Holcim employees selected a total of 13 entries as first, second and third place in three categories, and awarded another 14 drawings with special prizes.

The ceremonial award ceremony was held in connection with Earth Day in the past few days at the Királyegyházi Cement Factory. The awarded students and their family members, as well as their preparatory teachers, took part in the award ceremony. At the event, Managing Director Tamás Hoffmann handed over certificates of appreciation and gift packages, and then during a short factory visit, all participants were able to see the 1-3. also the exhibited drawings of the winners.

We are proud that the young generation also thinks together with us about sustainability and environmental protection, as they will be the ones who will continue to shape the future of our planet. It is important that these values ​​form part of their thinking from a young age. The valuable works submitted to the competition also prove that young people approach the topic with sufficient sensitivity, openness, attentiveness and creativity. In addition to rewarding the students, the awardees’ schools received a total of HUF 1,300,000 in financial support. Educational institutions can use the monetary reward to achieve environmental protection or health preservation goals.
