The concert is reminiscent of the Kodály memorial tour organized by the Hungarian Radio Art Ensembles, which celebrated the 100th anniversary of Kodály’s folk song collecting journeys. As part of the memorial tour, the Hungarian Radio Children’s Choir reached very small villages – more than thirty settlements – exactly where Zoltán Kodály went to collect folk songs 100 years ago.
“We organized the program of our concert in Miskolc in the same spirit, because we will perform folk songs collected by Kodály and others in Miskolc or its immediate vicinity. We will perform the Zoltán Kodály mixed choral choral piece entitled Salló Pista, which can be found in the newly published Kodály mixed choir volume. Until now, it was only available in manuscript, and only a few people knew about it, now this choral work, which Zoltán Kodály composed for the people of Miskolc, less than a year ago, 100 years ago, has become available to the general public,” said the head of the faculty.
The Youth Ensemble of the Hungarian Radio will come to the concert with 55 children and will participate Marta Stefanik, artist of the Magyar Rádió choir. Renaissance works will also be performed at the concert together with the Early Music Ensemble of the Béla Bartók Faculty of Music of the University of Miskolc. In the second half of the program, more traditional pieces of music can be heard: a capella works by Lajos Bárdos, and as a finale, one of Mozart’s early compositions, Regina Coeli, will be played accompanied by the strings of the Hungarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
