We received a letter of concern: were the children in danger at the intersection in Szolnok?

In Szolnok, a new type of intersection with traffic lights will be created in front of the Csoma Sándor Primary School in Szolnok, connecting Jósika ut. The former cold pavement of the repaired road section was recently permanently replaced with warm asphalt, when the daily temperature required for the works allowed it.

At the moment, the mentioned road section is still missing, which is also weather-dependent, i.e. the contractor is waiting for days without rain.

– During the renovation of the asphalt pavement in front of the Csoma Sándor Kőrösi Primary School in Szolnok, I noticed that the children of the primary school are in danger! Motorists cannot see anything from the machines. The children are standing in front of the zebra in complete disbelief, stepping down and up! I think immediate action is necessary! – one of our readers sent his written opinion about the situation before the road section.

We also sent our reader’s analysis of the situation to the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok County press department, from which a short reply was received.

We also contacted the communications department of Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. in the matter, from which we received a meaningful response.

– On the road section in question, interventions were carried out by an external contractor on behalf of our company. Asphalting works were completed last Friday. During the works, they tried to take into account the features of the nearby school. On the affected days, the police were on the scene during the hour before school to help ensure safe traffic. The asphalting works usually started after 8 o’clock in the morning, that is, after the bell was rung, until then only preparatory work took place. While these works were taking place, pedestrian traffic was also restricted. In the future, this week, the investment will continue with the pavement sign painting works. The contractor, the authorities and our company will also work to ensure that those driving there, especially students, can continue to use this crossing safely! – Magyar Közút Nonprofit Zrt. informed about the situation.
