Logistics specialists arriving at the huge terminal in Lusakalitke can learn about the industry’s most important technological innovations, private 5G, the operation of virtual 3D, and gain an insight into modern, 21st century logistics. An innovative partnership was born a University of Miskolc and that East-West Intermodal Logistics Service Zrt. between. Strategic cooperation helps a Miskolcand the development of the logistics sector. János TalosiCEO of East-West Gate said:

I am proud that our employees work at the terminal in world-class conditions and with the most modern technologies. We are happy to share our knowledge, experiences and results with the teachers and students of the University of Miskolc.

Logistics education and practical training can develop together

Vice Chancellor of the University of Miskolc, Prof. Dr. Péter Szűcs highlighted:

This collaboration is a huge step in the integration of logistics education and practical training. We are proud to stand by the East-West Gate and to prepare our students for future prospects together.

According to the vice-rector, the logistics specialists of the University of Miskolc will receive more modern training in cooperation with East West Gate. This partnership includes the development of new teaching materials, the creation of a university process simulation lab, and the establishment of a student scholarship.
According to Prof. Dr. Péter Szűcs, industry partners have long been the accelerators and catalysts of logistics training, and this noble tradition continues in the cooperation with East-West Gate.

The logistics generation of the future can learn in a huge terminal

“The future belongs to efficient, environmentally friendly logistics – stressed János Tálosi. – Nowadays, logistics extends from the factory to the door. If this process cannot be steered in an environmentally friendly direction, it will have very serious consequences for humanity and our environment.”
According to the CEO, the future is being built if the young logistics colleagues from Miskolc can study in Fényeslitké, Europe’s largest land terminal. In the huge facility, they can learn about virtual 3D, the operation of private 5G and a series of other logistics innovations that will be of great use to them during their studies:
“The logistics facility requires skilled labor. More than 50 percent of the 170 people working here have a higher education, and only 10 people did not graduate. This also shows that a highly qualified, young, open-minded and skilled workforce is needed. This only works if the training is appropriate. Because you can’t build a future from 30-year-old books and study material”.
According to János Tálosi, in order to acquire successful logistics knowledge, good specialists must be trained, and the University of Miskolc was open to including the terminal in the curriculum, which represents a step up in training.

The innovative terminal operates in a strategically important area

The terminal operates in Fényeslitké, a large village of 2,300 people, right near the Ukrainian-Hungarian border. At a strategic point which, by the way, is also a very decisive logistical point for the region.

But what does the operation of a private 5G network mean in a logistics terminal?

“The boys sit in a room and control the cranes remotely, 2-3 kilometers away. An internal private 5G network operates, with a computer background that helps the logistics processes – János Tálosi explained the operation of the huge terminal. – It’s like watching a cartoon, and life takes place in the virtual space, while it all appears as a real event. This is what appeals to young people, which is why they are happy to come to the terminal to study and work”.
