Balatoni Hajózási Zrt started the 178th shipping season with four new ships. In addition to the two new ferries designed for the conditions of Balaton, two new catamarans also arrived on Lake Balaton, one of which will serve in the western basin.
On April 20th, as part of the traditional Fonyód-Badacsony sailing season opening ceremony, those interested were able to get to know the new catamaran Tomaj and set off on a free cruise between the two settlements. This marked the beginning of Bahart’s boat presentation roadshow, during which the “newcomers” of the fleet are presented in several Balaton settlements.

Badacsony’s renovated cult building, Tátika, was also presented at the season opening event, where Bahart’s new ticket office now operates.
The new ships will welcome Balaton passengers at their final duty station during the spring. The Tomaj catamaran will travel between Fonyód and Badacsony, the Balaton catamaran will serve in the Siófok–Balatonfüred–Tihany triangle, and the Tihany and Szántód ferries will transport passengers between the ships, which enables more convenient and more frequent crossings between the two coasts. Fleet development with the support of more than six billion forints from the Hungarian government was realized – reports Turizmus.com.
Those interested will be able to meet the new boats next on April 27th at Balatonboglár on the opening day of the Balaton Csavargőzös Műemlékhájó, and on May 26th in Keszthely and try them out as part of a free cruise. The new catamaran will also welcome the traveling public with a special children’s circus program on the occasion of Children’s Day.
