The court sentenced him to 70 days in prison.

A Nigerian man in his thirties accused of drug trafficking took off the tracker attached to his hand and traveled to Kaposvár by public transport in March. From there, he wanted to flee first to Budapest and then to Germany – it is clear from the announcement of the Somogy County Prosecutor General’s Office.

The man had been under criminal supervision since May 2021. According to the court’s decision, he could only leave the administrative area of the Kaposvár district with a special permit, and the police had to monitor his movements with a tracking device. His attempt in March failed, the police of the Fonyód Police Department – stopping the train to Budapest at Balatonlell – arrested him and detained him.

The Kaposvár District Prosecutor’s Office brought the man to court in an accelerated procedure for the crime of escaping a prisoner by violating the rules of coercive measures. The District Court of Kaposvár found him guilty in accordance with the prosecutor’s charge and sentenced him to 70 days in prison.
