In a statement sent to MTI on Monday, the BKK wrote that, in addition to filling out the questionnaire, the interested parties can also share their comments and suggestions in the Agóra Street Forums of the BKK on the II. of the Pest tram network. on planning its pace.

As part of the Újbuda-Újpest tramway project, a new, non-transferring public transport connection between Northern Pest and Southern Buda can be created, and the transport options of the Budapest city center can also be improved according to BKK’s plans. The number of transfers and travel time can be reduced, and the predictability of the service can be improved. The combined effect of these can significantly increase the competitiveness of public transport, BKK pointed out.

Through the public consultation until May 31, the BKK questionnaires primarily assess the needs of passengers related to the new tram line, stops and their surroundings that will be built between Lehel tér and Deák Ferenc tér.

It was highlighted: the BKK is committed to making joint decisions with the citizens of Budapest about the developments that greatly affect the mobility of the capital, which is why it has launched a multi-level social consultation process on the planning of the Újbuda-Újpest tramline. As part of this, residents, workers and commuters in the affected area can express their opinions, and the experts also take into account the needs and comments of businesses operating in the affected areas.


According to the information, various civil organizations and professional associations were able to learn about the planned elements of the development through the Mobility Topic Group. They will have the opportunity to do this several more times as the planning progresses. In addition, BKK’s specialists are in constant consultation with the authorities, district municipalities and utility companies.

BKK also counts on the opinion of those who are not comfortable filling out the online version, traditional paper-based questionnaires are also available. The questionnaire can be downloaded from the bkk.hu website or is available at BKK customer centers. The preparation of the investment can be carried out with the co-financing of the European Union, in the Integrated Transport Development Operative Program Plusz (IKOP Plusz) program, explained the BKK.
