Hungary’s newest hospital block can be handed over in the summer

Fejér-B.Á.L. is close to completion. Zrt. and the consortium of Épkar Zrt., the new internal medicine building block of the Fejér County Szent György University Teaching Hospital. As we have continuously reported on the two-year construction, Székesfehérvár is home to one of the country’s most significant healthcare investments. In addition to internal medicine, the new hospital building with 112 beds and 64 wards will house the pulmonary medicine department, but it will also treat patients with cancer and infectious diseases.

Final touches

The construction of the three-and-a-half-story hospital block with a useful floor area of approximately 6,100 square meters has now entered its final phase. The contractors are still working on the design of the facades, of which only the last stage remains: the canopies and shades are being installed. Meanwhile, the building is also taking its final shape inside: painting, hot and cold cladding, and electrical installation work are progressing with great vigor.

As we learned from Anita Pető, Épkar’s construction manager:

“Renovation work on the approximately 1,000-square-meter corridor connecting the former hospital building with the new one has also begun, where the replacement of doors and windows, the installation of plasterboard and painting and glazing are already underway.”

In addition to the completion of the external and internal works, the final tasks of the contractors include the arrangement of the environment, where 1,200 square meters of external paving, 1,460 square meters of asphalt paving, and 40 new parking spaces need to be installed on 880 square meters.

It can be completed by the deadline

Despite the fact that the autumn and winter weather made the work difficult, thanks to the persistence of the contractors, the new hospital building can be handed over to the public and professionals on time, in July 2024, as the Deputy Mayor Attila Mészáros pointed out at the block’s bush ceremony:
