The independent film sensation, the Drifter and the Ricci Gábor Hörcher’s new work, known as the director of the short film called “Fans”, was all that was known in advance that it unabashedly presents the story of an American sex worker couple, American Emma and Eddie Lovett, who produce videos for the OnlyFans platform. The Hungarian artist was given the opportunity to do all this by the fact that the couple moved to our country even before Covid, as they had heard that it is the capital of porn, the girls are beautiful here, and prostitution is legal.

And the first minutes of the documentary, which was filmed for seven years, immediately shocks the viewer, because the nakedness here does not simply mean that everyone on social media shows their most beautiful face, that they are only human, that this seemingly easy job is not even milk to the bottom, but that what these two people show about themselves is a blatant lie,

as they quite specifically hate each other.

So, those who are tired of the falsity of professional porn films and go to OnlyFans to see something real, will not find it at Emma and Eddie,

because the only real thing about the acts of the couple who won the award for the best couple in many webcam porn competitions is that they really do it.

But everything else is just a pretence, so really the only thing that separates them from porn actors is that they look less advantageous and are visibly civil.

And after the shocking introduction, we can see how these two people got to the point where they tell the camera how much they hate each other in a completely ordinary way, and in what different tasteless ways they want to fuck with him (stylistically) – i.e. we can watch their everyday life from there from the moment they arrive in Budapest, until the moment they speak to the filmmakers about their future lives only through a webcam or in a separately arranged interview.

The Emma and Eddie the most digestible parts of them are the moments when we see them at work, as we get a small glimpse into a world that is unfamiliar and somewhat foreign to most of us. What’s more, these moments are all the more interesting, because we don’t simply get a taste of the behind-the-scenes secrets of webcam sex, since the members of the couple are also businessmen who want to expand their service, i.e. they want to hire more girls in addition to Emma.

However, the casting of the Hungarian girls soon turns into unpleasant play between Emma and Eddie, and we can watch how the actors use this to hurt each other. For example, the man seduces his wife by replacing her with one of the younger “models”, and by asking her such things as what it would be like if the new candidate bore him a child,

in fact, in Emma’s presence, he openly flirts with the girl and, despite her strong objections, hold her hand during a joint (three-way) dinner, quite repulsive.

And then this is “only” part of the mental and verbal abuse – in the film, unfortunately, we can also see (or traces of it) that Emma and Eddie physically abuse each other a few times. And I wish we could write that only the relationship is toxic and that these two people simply don’t fit together, they shouldn’t be together

– but during the playing time, we have to realize that Emma and Eddie are toxic personalities themselves, not only together, but with each other.

We see countless examples of characters behaving terribly with others. For example, Emma repeatedly harasses with messages those with whom she only has temporary, official contact (for example, their accommodation providers), sending a lot of text messages to the other party, in which she is threatening more than once. And even though Eddie takes better care of his appearance, he also presents himself with a certificate of poverty: for example, when he happily rolls his skateboard down the road without caring about other road users, slides in front of cars, and then mocks those who – quite rightly – don’t like.

But we can also see several times that Emma behaved aggressively and passive-aggressively with the director of the documentary, more than once canceling scheduled meetings, and with her lies and pretense, she almost ruined the completion of the film itself in a completely unworthy manner. Everyone these days throws around the psychological concept of narcissism very easily, so we don’t want to make that mistake either, but it’s very hard to see Emma and Eddie as not suffering from narcissistic personality disorder.

We don’t know what our (anti)heroes were like before they started porn, just like we don’t know how typical their performances are for other OnlyFans couples, so the Emma and Eddie – Out of the picture it does not give a general situation report, it only provides a very detailed psychological profile of these two people.

However, he did it all the more ruthlessly.
