hvg360: Krúbi sings that Ganxsta Zolee can do anything in his song “Ganxsta Zolee must have been corrupted by someone too, but it was a long time ago and no one remembers it”. Who messed it up?
Ganxsta Zolee: Kiss two gave me the first push when I was very young Alive-concert album and Aerosmith’s 1973 album: it reached me in ’75, when nobody here knew what Aerosmith was.
hvg360: When you were nine years old?
GZ: I have cousins in America, they brought vinyl records. That was the first epiphany – “I’m going to be a rock star!” – and then came the second enlightenment – “I’m going to be a punk star!” –: it was punk music that got me off the path: all-time favorites GBH, Peter and the Test Tube Babies, Exploited, Sex Pistols, early Clash, Damned, everything, then skinhead music, 4-Skins, the Screwdriver. That made me feel that I had to make music. We also founded a band. Dad always liked to spoil me: I blurted out that wow, I’m going to be a bass player, and he bought a bass guitar. Then a solo guitar, obviously a five-thousand-forint Jolana, but you could start a punk band with it, that was Zsolti and Fosfejűek. From then on, there was no stopping, and there was a short break when, after graduation, he had to go out of high school punk music into life.
I wanted nothing to become of me. I just wanted to drink with my friends, hang out with girls and hang my bag.
I wasn’t in the mood for anything. But that was not possible, so my mother put me in the foreign trade company, Technoimpex, I ruined everything, and they fired me in a short time. But they loved me very much, because I was supposedly a good-natured child, just unable to work, not suitable for normal work.
hvg360: How did you come to play drums instead of guitar?
