Months after CBS announced that it was Brainiacs spin-off, Young Sheldon will end after the seventh season, the main character Annie Potts commented on the decision in an interview. In March 2021, the channel extended the series for three seasons, which will definitely remain on the air until the 7th season, but CBS revealed in November that the series will also end with the 7th season.

The series finale is set for May 16, and filming just wrapped last week, and Annie Potts, who plays Sheldon’s grandmother (“Mimo”), didn’t hold back, calling the mowing a “stupid business decision” in an interview with Variety. Pottsot – who starred in hit series such as Shapely women (Designing Women)the Love & War and the Any Day Now (Any Day Now) – they asked about how difficult it is to say goodbye to a series.

This was especially difficult because I was completely unprepared. I was stunned. I mean, it’s the number one show on linear TV and the number one show on Netflix

he began.

Potts added: “I think we’re the only thing people watch on TikTok, besides some pasta recipes. It just seemed like a stupid business move. If a show starts to drag, or lag behind in ratings, the stories are boring, or anything else, you kind of foresee it. But now this thing caught us completely by surprise. At least me,” Potts admitted.

Her 15-year-old co-star Iain Armitage added: “I totally understand what Annie is thinking. I mean, I’m not going to see Annie Potts every day. This is a real loss for me. Better than anyone else. I definitely think we could have done a lot more,” he said. Filming on the series just wrapped last week, and Potts was asked how he feels now that the work is done.

It was very, very, very, very emotional. I mean, Ian’s lived half his life and mine a tenth, but at 70 that seems significant

he declared. “And you know, it’s a little village that we have, and we’ve all taken care of each other and raised each other. There will be a big void in my life. There is no question about that. But grief and loss will get easier one day,” he admitted.

Armitage added: “It’s definitely hard to finish and to have been able to work with such incredible people makes it even harder. I feel very fortunate to have had seven amazing years, but at the same time, I’m very excited to be back in Los Angeles in June,” he continued. “I’m going to hang out with Annie, get my pilot’s license and lead studio tours at Warner Bros., which is going to be amazing,” he said.

It was recently confirmed that the finale will see the return of Jim Parsons as the grown-up Sheldon, along with his wife Amy, played by Mayim Bialik.

“Incredible. It felt like a reunion to see them together again. They know each other so well and play so well together. They knew each other’s passwords, which was wonderful to see. I think both Jim and Mayim really enjoyed it, so that was really cool,” added Armitage.
