As is known, Szandi started her career as a teenage singer, she was 19 years old when she moved in with Csaba Bogdán, who is 16 years older than her. Bogdán was already a well-known, established pop musician, the guitarist of Első Emelet, with many LPs and national tours behind him.
“1995 – The year I moved in with Csabi. We felt an amazing power in ourselves, we started to create and realize our dreams with full steam. Shortly after that, my album was released in Japan, and in five countries one of my songs was included on compilation albums featuring the Spice Girls or Dj Bobo. This is how they recognized me in these countries,” Szandi remembered on his social media page.
“We traveled a lot, including to Midem Asia in Hong Kong, where I appeared on stage in front of the band Aqua: then they came in with the Barbie girl and we got ready in a dressing room. It feels good to remember this period as well. That’s when they realize how much I’ve experienced in the last 35 years,” he added in his scrollable post, where you can see what he looked like almost as a child.
Szandi, born in 1976, already appeared in the rock opera Les Miserables and Beasts at the Szeged Outdoor Games in 1988. She was not even 12 years old when she became the winner of the Mini Tini pop singer competition out of 400 applicants. On Christmas 1988, Viki’s sister saw Miklós Fenyő at an Old Boys concert, approached him and asked him to listen to her sister.
Her first album Little Girl was released in November 1989 and sold 270,000 copies within weeks. This made him the youngest Hungarian artist with a platinum record. In the first years of his career, he often appeared in a beret: this became one of his hallmarks, so that when he visited Fenyőék, the hat fell from the top shelf of the closet in the hallway and Szandi tried it on. Feny was very pleased with this overall look, and Szandin ‘remained’ the red beret, in which he also poses on the cover of his second album.
His album Tinédzser l’amour, released in 1990, sold well over 250,000 copies. In 1991, he played the main role of Timi, a high school student, in the film Szerelmes szívék, based on his life. His soundtrack album of the same name, Szerelmes szívek, also sold 250,000 copies and became a platinum record.
