After the death of Miklós Benedek, Sándor Csikos was elected Actor of the Nation by his colleagues. He found his calling in Debrecen, spent most of his career as a member of the Csokonai Theater, yet became a nationally known artist. However, he rarely spoke about his childhood, youth and private life. Nor about the deep pain that hit him in February. The actor lost his beloved wife after many decades.

“I played less now:

When I went to him at the end, saying ‘I’m here, Sanyi!’, he turned away twice. I knew he wanted to leave. I had to let him go… He had a nice, serene funeral worthy of him: his former students also showed up, and Bishop Károly Fekete remembered my Cila upliftingly.
