Gabriella Szamos Kelényi, owner and CEO of Szamos Marzipán, organized an unusual birthday party for her 75th birthday. The head of the large company does not choose a traditional celebration, but rather had a death cake for himself.

The idea of ​​the event was born in his head more than twenty years ago, and his goal was to find out who would be the people who would come to his funeral.

said Gabriella Szamos Kelényi. She decided to make her own funeral cake because she didn’t want a traditional sad funeral where everyone cries. Rather, he wanted a fun celebration where his loved ones and friends would remember him with joy.

In the invitation to the event, Gabriella clearly indicated that she did not ask for flowers. Instead, he asked for home-made delicacies, with which his pantry was almost full. The master of ceremonies was his son, and the guests brought things like preserves, jams, or even sausages. He also asked the invited guests to write something about him and put these writings into a raffle. He has since stitched these personal messages together and says that these thoughts fill him up spiritually.

Gabriella Kelényi Szamos does not plan to retire even after her death. He is still full of ideas. Now, for example, he is working on the renovation of the Szamos Marzipan museum in Szentendre, where visitors can learn how the famous marzipan is made.

After the unusual birthday party, Gabriella Szamos Kelényi remains active and continues the success of the family business, while knowing that when the time comes, she already has a plan for her own funeral.
