Her baby girl was mistaken for another baby.
A 22-year-old mother reported a somewhat creepy story on TikTok in the past few days, and managed to stir up the stagnant water on the platform. In the three-minute video, a woman named Maisie Beth talks about how every parent’s nightmare happened to her: just a few days after she gave birth to her first child, whom she named Isabelle, the baby was switched in the hospital.
The young British woman gave birth to her child in a hospital in Dorset last September, and she knew that they would definitely have to spend a few days inside, as the little one required extra attention due to its condition. It soon became clear that the newborn needed light therapy, so he was placed in a special incubator where he was illuminated with blue light. Part of it was because the nurses gave Beth another baby on her second night in the hospital.
Maisie Beth says that when she got up in the morning to check on Isabelle in the other room, she noticed that one of the nurses was rocking the baby because she was crying inconsolably.
“I thought they must have taken him out of the incubator while I was in the bathroom. The nurses said that the little one had been crying for a while, so they took care of him. They also said he looked just like me. I didn’t even ask anything, I just took the baby back to the room,” said Beth, who was also surprised that she could just take the little girl back with her, since before that she was told that she still had to stay in the incubator. He even asked when he would bring it back.
She only realized she was babysitting someone else’s child when it was time to change the diaper a few hours later. Although not because of the contents of the diaper, she got a complete shock, as she was about to clean not her little girl, but a little boy.
When the first shock hit her, she immediately went to the nurses, who turned white when it turned out that they had given her a baby boy.
“I almost had a heart attack. My first reaction was that my child had been kidnapped. I was gripped by terror! My partner and I struggled for four years to have a child, I thought everything was already over. God knows what could have happened. […] Let’s say, I don’t know if the other mother noticed it, because she was in another ward. They told me that my daughter was in the phototherapy incubator the whole time, but I really have no idea what happened to Isabelle while I was holding the little boy,” explained Beth, who never dreamed that such a thing could happen, but the for the next five days that Beth and Isabelle spent in the hospital, no more was said about what had happened. The woman believes that this may have happened because she looked a lot like the boy’s mother, and they simply got mixed up in the hallway.
