As part of its overall strategy to expand its delivery infrastructure in the region, Sameday has announced its intention to acquire Hungarian courier service Sprinter. The transaction can be concluded after the approval of the authorities, the parties have not disclosed the value of the transaction.

Following the completion of the acquisition, Sameday’s out-of-home infrastructure in Hungary can be expanded by 60 percent with more than 450 domestic Sprinter collection points, and the delivery capacities of the courier company will also strengthen the operations of the new owner, according to Sameday’s announcement on Wednesday. .

The Sprinter express, which is currently owned by Lapker Zrt. and was founded in 1997, has been present in Hungary for more than 25 years. The company includes, for example, the pioneering pick-up point network, the Pick Pack Pont brand and the Sprinter courier service with a decades-long history.

According to the company’s website, the courier company, with its fleet of more than 400 vehicles and its nationwide network of depots, guarantees 1 working day – PDA-supported, precise – door-to-door delivery throughout the country.

Sprinter also has a network of more than 700 Pick Pack Points, more than 80% of which are located at frequented junctions – RELAY, inmedio, OMV, MOL, Playersroom, Avanti, Coop, independent points – and has contracts with nearly a thousand online stores.

The courier company also serves a significant number of local and multinational online stores, and also operates cross-border delivery services in Romania and other countries. Thanks to the acquisition, according to the promises, Sameday’s out-of-home collection point network in Hungary will consist of around 2,200 easybox parcel machines and traditional collection points by the end of 2024, covering all major cities and regions in Hungary.

The increased logistics capacities are expected to become available to online stores in the coming months.
