Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko would install Russian nuclear weapons – or has already installed them – on the section of the country’s border with Ukraine, reports Reuters. According to reports, a number of Russian nuclear weapons have been installed in Belarus since the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian war, and the president regularly refers to the West’s desire to drag it into a war.

The Belarusian president spoke at the constitutional session of the Belarusian People’s Congress, which has been ongoing since Wednesday, on the grounds that his country is facing serious internal and external threats. Therefore, it should allow Russia to deploy dozens of tactical nuclear weapons on its territory by seizing an area in the western part of the country close to the border with Ukraine.

Ivan Tertel, the head of the Belarusian KGB, spoke at the same conference about an allegedly successfully foiled Lithuanian drone attack on Minsk – denied by the NATO member state – and about the country’s ongoing weapons smuggling attempts and terrorist threat from Ukraine. According to Lukashenko, the risk of military incidents at the country’s border with Ukraine is quite high, but its other western neighbor, also a NATO member, Poland

you don’t have to expect aggressive steps from Minsk.

The Russian news agency TASS has already reported that, according to Lukashenko, dozens of nuclear weapons were installed in Belarus in accordance with a joint agreement with Putin last year. The Belarusian opposition – whose leaders are either serving prison terms or have fled abroad – says Lukashenko’s accusations are ridiculous.

The purpose of the People’s Congress is to approve the country’s national security concept and military doctrine. The president was elected a few days ago as the president of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly – in which, of course, he ran as the only candidate. The Belarusian dictator recently congratulated Tamás Sulyok on the election of the President of the Republic on behalf of his people.
