Duda put it like that

a potential aggressor needs to see our readiness. There is a potential threat that is why we are holding this exercise.

The two leaders met on the final day of the week-long maneuver along the Suwalki corridor codenamed Brave Griffin 24/II. The mentioned area is of strategic importance from the point of view of NATO, as it connects Poland and – via Lithuania – the three Baltic states also belonging to NATO. It also separates the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad and Belarus, which is allied with Russia.

In addition to 1,500 Lithuanian soldiers, about 200 members of Poland’s 15th mechanized brigade, as well as American and Portuguese military personnel, are participating in the current maneuver.

Duda said that the purpose of the military exercise was to practice redirecting the 15th mechanized brigade and military equipment to the territory of the neighboring state. Nauseda spoke at the meeting about the fact that Warsaw and Vilnius should encourage their NATO partners to spend more on defense.

Polish President Andrzej Duda (j) and Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda greet each other at the Lithuanian-Polish binational military exercise codenamed Brave Griffin 24/II.

We must work together to convince our NATO partners to increase defense spending

– added the Lithuanian head of state at the joint press conference held with his official partner. Duda recently suggested that NATO should oblige its members to increase their defense spending to at least 3 percent of their gross domestic product (GDP). Poland currently spends more than 4 percent of its GDP for this purpose. Nauseda emphasized: his country has also set itself this goal.

According to the former Polish Prime Minister, the world has once again become a dangerous place and within the framework of the Nuclear Sharing NATO program, Poland is ready to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory, to which the Kremlin spokesman gave a threatening response. Finally, Russia announced that it was ready to declare war on NATO. As Origo previously reported, it is a dangerous provocation that NATO is holding military exercises on the Russian border.
