In recent years, manufacturers have imperceptibly reduced the amount of packaging for more and more products, but as of March 1st, the government decree obliged food retailers with a turnover of over HUF 1 billion to draw customers’ attention to the phenomenon with posters.
In addition, the list of products whose packaging has become smaller is updated daily on Nébih’s website.
In the past few weeks, the following products have been added to the list without claiming to be complete:
Milli Caucasian kefir

New, reduced product size: 400 g

Tamás Kozák, Secretary General of the National Trade Association, told Economx’s question about the government’s measures that the awareness-raising campaign has not yet had any effect on traffic, rather the shrinking inflation regulation will affect the practices of manufacturers.
The new packaging of inflation is here, and it will poke our eyes out
By the end of March, Nébih’s system recorded almost 600 packaging reductions in stores. However, you don’t have to browse the office’s website for this, because since March 1st, as part of a new trade policy measure, “Beware, the product has become smaller!” every customer is faced with a sign if the size or volume of the inspected item has decreased. There is also a name for the increasingly narrowly tailored grams and milliliters: contraction inflation.
