According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, there is an increasing danger of a direct military conflict between Russia and the Western nuclear powers.

“Western countries are dangerously balancing on the edge of a direct military confrontation between the nuclear powers, which could have catastrophic consequences,” CNBC quotes Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as saying. The politician painted this extremely gloomy vision of the future in his video message to the participants of the Moscow nuclear non-proliferation conference on Monday. Lavrov’s warning came after Russia sharply condemned the weekend decision of the US House of Representatives, which approved a $61 billion military aid package for Kiev.

Lawmakers in the House of Representatives decided on the issue on Saturday. The aid bill now goes before the Democratic-dominated Senate, which may soon approve the legislation, which will eventually be handed over to US President Joe Biden for his signature.

The aid package could be crucial for Ukraine, and according to some analysts, it could even decide the outcome of the two-year-old war. As we wrote about in our previous article, the Ukrainians are currently struggling with serious deficiencies in air defense and artillery, and these problems could only be remedied by the American aid package.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to the American lawmakers the other day, at the same time emphasizing that the bill that has just been passed prevents the further escalation of the war, “saves thousands and thousands of lives and helps both nations to become stronger”.
