Visitors to an Indian national park witnessed a rare event: a local tiger and her three cubs managed to bring down a swamp crocodile, Live Science reports. A video was also made of the predators eating their prey.

The incident took place on the bank of a lake in the Ranthambore National Park in the northwestern Indian state of Rajasthan on April 16. The mother animal, a 6-year-old Bengal tiger named Riddhi, has not hunted a crocodile for the first time, but this is the first time her success has been documented.

Before Riddhi, his grandmother Macsli was the number one “crocodile killer” of the park, having killed a 4.3 meter long specimen. Macsli died in 2016, at the age of 19.

Riddhi’s cubs were born last spring and appear to have been unharmed in the fight with the crocodile.

It seems crocodile hunting is in their blood

said Parveen Kaszuan of the Indian Forest Service.

Tigers typically scout their prey on land, pigs, deer and other animals, and it is very rare to hunt crocodiles. At the same time, these big cats are excellent swimmers, and if a crocodile rests near the water’s edge, it can become an easily vulnerable target.
