Due to the disorganization of the Ukrainian troops, the Russian army can advance almost without resistance near the village of Ocretine. The Russians have already occupied almost the entire settlement and built up their defense lines. The village is located in the middle of the front line, near Donetsk. From there, Russia could launch a more comprehensive offensive into central parts of Ukraine before US aid shipments arrive.

According to Russian news sources, the invasion forces have already planted the Russian flag on the administrative buildings of Ocretine. Based on the recordings from the settlement, it can be said that the village is quiet, no shooting or shelling can be heard on the videos. This could mean that the Ukrainians have given up the settlement, they are not fighting to get it back. This is also indicated by the fact that in the videos on Telegram, the Russian soldiers drive quite calmly on the streets of the village.

The United States may send military advisers to Ukraine

As the US legislature passed $61 billion in military aid to Ukraine, the Russians stepped up their offensive in Donetsk Oblast. The disorganized and presumably exhausted Ukrainian army is currently unable to stand in the way of the invasion forces, so Kiev may lose a larger slice of the country by the time the American weapons arrive.

Politico wrote that the US plans to send military advisers to Ukraine to help organize defense until the weapons arrive.

American military advisers do not participate in combat operations. Their task would be the logistical management of team movements and equipment.
