Authorities told people gathered in front of New York University to leave, and anyone who refused to do so would be detained for trespassing. The crowd of hundreds of people responded by forming a chain of resistance against the police action. According to on-site reports, the authority directed several buses to the vicinity of the university, and several people were taken away.

Demonstrators marched through the streets of downtown New York late at night with Palestinian flags and banners.

Demonstrators at New York University chanted pro-Palestinian slogans that have become commonplace recently, such as “from the river to the sea,” which is associated with “free Palestine” and which Jewish organizations say calls for the destruction of Israel.

On Monday morning, police removed members of a larger group protesting against Israel at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. According to evening reports, a total of around 60 people were detained, most of them students.

On Thursday, more than 100 people were detained at the leading American university among the camped protesters who demanded that the university management cut off relations with certain partners linked to Israel.

Eric Adams, the mayor of New York City, condemned what happened at Columbia University at his press conference on Sunday, calling the anti-Semitic slogans chanted by the protesters unacceptable.

The management of Harvard University in Boston decided on Monday to ban the operation of a pro-Palestinian student organization for the rest of the semester. The Palestine Solidarity Committee, a student organization, was one of several groups at Harvard that organized a protest in the wake of the demonstration at Columbia University last week.

On Monday, students at the University of California, Berkeley, in the state of California built a tent camp in protest against Israel and in support of the Palestinians, similar to what happened at Columbia University.

In the wake of the anti-Israel and anti-Semitic demonstrations at Columbia University, the billionaire entrepreneur of Jewish origin, Robert Kraft, a former student of the university, announced on Monday that he would withdraw his financial support from the institution.
