The presenter from Belarus, who was returned from Ferihegy, may be connected to the Russian influence network

--

According to European secret services, Oleg Volosin and his wife, Nadja Szasz, may be members of the Russian influence network that was shut down at the end of March. This may be the reason why the pro-Russian presenter from Belarus was not allowed to enter Hungary for the 2023 conference organized by Mi Hazánk for European far-right parties, writes hvg360. The paper knows that the woman also wanted to shoot a film about György Soros, the founder of the Open Society Foundation.

According to the paper, Nadja Szasz was checked at Ferenc Liszt International Airport, then had to spend one night in a detention center, and was deported to Hungary the next day. According to their information, Nadja Szassz’s data was included in the database of the Schengen Information System, SIS, which is Europe’s largest IT system for security and border management purposes.

Sassz’s husband, the Russian-Ukrainian journalist Oleg Volosin, was previously a presidential attaché at the former Ukrainian embassy in Moscow, but also worked as a spokesman for the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry. In 2022, 11 days before the invasion of Russian troops, he moved from Ukraine to Belarus. In 2023, he was accused of treason in Ukraine: according to this, Volosin “supported the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation in subversive activities against Ukraine.”

The American government also placed Volosin under sanctions, as they claim that he operates under the control of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) and, according to hvg360, belongs to the disconnected Russian influence network together with his wife. The Russian influence attempt also has Hungarian threads, we wrote about it here.
