The information comes from Pentagon spokesman General Pat Ryder, who he did not disclose exactly how many troops could go to Ukraine.
During the conflict, the Ministry of Defense constantly evaluated and changed our situation in the country, depending on the security conditions. We are currently thinking about increasing the staff of the Office of Defense Cooperation (ODC) at our embassy with even more advisers”
said the American general.
He explained: bar the mission involves people from the Ministry of Defense (i.e. soldiers), they will not fight on the front line, but they will be staying at the American Embassy in Kyiv.
They act as advisors and assist in the distribution and tracking of US-donated weapons.
This task is not entirely new: there are still US soldiers in Ukraine as part of the ODC mission, who perform the tasks listed above. According to unconfirmed information, there are about 10-20 US troops in Kiev now.
