Russia launched a drone strike on the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa, wounding seven people, including two children, and also attacked the capital, Kiev, Ukrainian military officials said early Tuesday morning. Oleh Kiper, the governor of the Odessa region, wrote on the Telegram messaging application that several residential buildings in the city were damaged and caught fire. The city administration added that at least 14 apartments were damaged.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched a total of 16 attack drones against Ukraine, as well as two short-range Iskander ballistic missiles. Air defense systems destroyed 15 drones over Odesa, Kyiv, Mykolaiv and Cherkasy regions. The air force’s briefing did not mention what happened to the missiles.

All Russian drones launched towards Kiev were destroyed, Serhiy Popko, head of the capital’s military administration, said on Telegram, adding that there were no reports of damage or injuries from the attack.

Also on Telegram, Mykolaiv Governor Vitaly Kim said pieces of a downed drone damaged a commercial building.
