Just last week, the news came that in a few hours, with minimal resistance, the Russian forces raced from Stepov / Berdich to Ocretyn, now it looks like most of the settlement has been occupied.
According to the report of the Russian Rybar analysis house, the Russian soldiers they acquired the railway station of the settlement with a population of 3,000 and are located in the northwestern part of the village, that is, Oceretine was brought under their control almost completely.
Julian Röpcke, a Bild journalist and German OSINT analyst, confirms with reference to Ukrainian sources that Most of Ocretine is in Russian hands, and he makes obscene, negative comments about the strategic situation. He believes that the Ukrainian soldiers fighting in the first line of defense probably gave up the defense of the sector, which is why the Russians were able to conquer a significant area in a short time. He also mentions that the much-seen 47th mechanized infantry brigade is now fighting for the village.
Röpcke also quotes a Ukrainian soldier who reports that the Russians are already besieging “peaceful” villages, that is, they have reached settlements in the Donbas where Russian forces have never been before. The Ukrainian soldier is asking for help.
The loss of Ocretine is unpleasant for the Ukrainian forces because, in principle, this is where they set up the new defense line in the northwestern sector after the loss of Avgyijivka. If this is true, it will probably be much easier for Russian forces to push further west.
