The Polish president was able to convince Donald Trump of the importance of supporting Ukraine

According to the President of Lithuania, Andrzej Duda successfully interceded for Ukraine with the former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump. As our newspaper wrote about it, the Polish president met with the American politician last Wednesday in his luxury apartment in Trump Tower, and they discussed the war in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as the commitments of NATO member states.

but he hoped that Duda would be able to make him understand that if he is re-elected as president in November, he must “keep up with the Western world and Europe” in this matter as well. As is known, Donald Trump has made several statements from which it can be concluded that his priority would be a quick end to the war, which would presumably include stopping US aid to Ukraine.

This is somewhat contradicted by the development that took place over the weekend: the Republicans finally agreed, and thus President Biden’s new $60 billion military support package for Ukraine passed in the US House of Representatives.

According to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, last week’s visit to Duda was successful,

“I keep seeing the different rhetoric of Donald Trump and the determination of the American authorities to make the necessary and long-awaited decisions. I believe that President Duda’s visit and his meeting with Trump brought a positive change, I am satisfied with Andrzej Duda’s intervention” – said the Lithuanian president.

According to the EU newspaper, Trump makes contradictory statements regarding Ukraine: he did not support the vote for the latest aid of 60 billion dollars, but at the same time, one day after the meeting with President Duda, he posted on his own social media platform, Truth Social, that

Duda and Trump are long-time allies, they also have a good personal relationship – Poland, together with the Baltic states, is the most committed supporter of Ukraine, and Warsaw is convinced that the Russian threat is an immediate threat to the security of not only Ukraine, but also Europe.
