When he called the service provider when he got home, he was told that the bill had not been sent by mistake.

A Florida man traveled to Switzerland with his wife, but when he got home, as ABC Action News puts it, his phone bill was higher than the Alps.

Rene Remund and his wife visited Europe last September and informed their service provider about the trip before their departure. The man went to a T-Mobile store, where they told him he was covered, but he didn’t go on to explain exactly what that meant. The couple didn’t even think about the amount of texts and calls they sent while away with their friends, until they got hold of it when they got back to the United States. the check for 143 thousand dollars (approximately HUF 53 million).

Remund, who has been a customer of the service provider for 30 years, at first thought that it could only be 143 dollars (which would still have been equivalent to approximately HUF 53,000), but in the end he called the customer service, where they confirmed that the amount had not been written down – overseas, he consumed a total of 9.3 gigabytes of data traffic, which would not be particularly high, but in the case of international calls, the charges increase many times over. The man then wrote a letter to the service provider, but received no response, so he contacted ABC Action News with his story, to whom T-Mobil wrote the following:

If a customer is on an older plan that does not include data roaming, they should ensure that they use airplane mode and wifi when using data to ensure that the device does not connect to an international network.

Days later, however, the amount was credited to Remund’s account, so he no longer has to worry about the 6-figure sum.
