North Korea fired a ballistic missile off the country’s eastern coast, Reuters quoted the South Korean military as saying. Japan’s coast guard also reported that it had spotted a projectile that “appeared to be a ballistic missile” that had landed outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone. Japan’s NTV, citing a government official, also believes it was a short-range missile. The governments of the two countries have not officially added anything to the case.
Pyongyang announced on Saturday that the North Korean military had tested a huge warhead on a robotic aircraft. Analysts say North Korea is testing drones that it is sending to Russia so that the Russians can use them in the war in Ukraine. Washington and Seoul claim in unison that Kim Jong-un has already delivered weapons to Moscow despite a strong UN ban.
Seoul’s military spotted several drones and surface-to-air missiles fired toward the Yellow Sea on Friday afternoon. They wrote that they are monitoring North Korea’s military activities and that if Pyongyang “carries out provocations, it will be punished with overwhelming force and determination.”
