The incident took place on Oahu, an island in Hawaii: the Poseidon overran the runway during landing and crashed into the ocean. The plane did not sink due to the shallow water, the crew of 9 on board swam to shore.

Operator error, bad weather, and poor light conditions could all have contributed to the loss of the machine.
The P-8A Poseidon is a Boeing 737-800 converted for military purposes. Although it is basically referred to as a reconnaissance and patrol aircraft, it is actually one it is a flying computer center equipped with very complex electronic instrumentation, which, if appropriate, can be equipped with torpedoes and anti-ship missiles suitable for neutralizing submarines.
The price of a single P-8A Poseidon is estimated at approximately 173 million dollars, which means almost HUF 60 billion.
