Last year, it was revealed that HBO Max will be significantly transformed and will continue to operate simply under the name Max, but until now the service has continued to operate in its usual form. In May, the big change will come in our country, which will bring with it three subscription options after the one option so far.
Warner Bros. Discovery will debut in Hungary on May 21 with an expanded content offering and sports broadcasts. It will also be launched in other European countries at the same time, and accordingly, Max will suddenly gain millions of “new” users. The transformed service will be accompanied by another application, which viewers will be able to purchase from several platforms after the transition. Thanks to the new application, you can also count on software developments to the delight of many.
In the framework of Max, not everything that is on the table in the USA will be available, but the audience should expect a much wider offer than before. We can already talk about a service that, in addition to the contents of HBO Max, will include the range of Discovery+ and even the selection of Eurosport. In this way, the platform will be able to reach a wider audience. Max specifically emphasized that those who are interested in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will also need to subscribe, as they will also be able to follow this closely within the framework of the service.
Those who use the service with the lifetime subscriber discount can also expect a higher subscription fee.
In light of the changes, it is not at all surprising that Warner Bros. Discovery will charge more for the service. Two price packages and an additional subscription option are coming, and we already know exactly how much users will have to shell out for them.
Until now, HBO Max cost HUF 2,390 per month, but those who subscribed at the beginning got away with HUF 1,590 per month thanks to the 33 percent discount. Well, going forward, Max Standard’s package will cost HUF 2,790, and discount subscribers will also be transferred to it, who will be able to pay HUF 1,860 after the 33% deduction. The Max Premium package will cost HUF 3,890, and those who want to follow all sports events can use the Sport package for an extra charge of HUF 1,200.
Subscribers who are really committed but do not have a 33 percent discount will be able to reduce their costs by paying for the service for a year. In this case, instead of the cost of 12 months, you only have to leave an amount corresponding to 10 months with the service provider, i.e. HUF 27,900 or HUF 38,900 can be obtained to access the platform for a full year.
What’s in these packages is important. Those who choose Max Standard will receive all content in Full HD quality, and it will be possible to consume the content simultaneously on two devices. On the other hand, Premium subscribers can already count on 4K Ultra HD support and can enjoy the diverse range of programs on four devices at the same time. In Sport, the two channels of Eurosport and dedicated broadcasts of many major sports events will be available in the highest possible broadcast quality.
The company also offers a subscription package supported by advertising in many countries, but this is not currently available in Hungary. What could be the reason for this? Well, we don’t know that yet. In addition to viewing ads, the content could be accessed even cheaper, there will be such an option even in Romania, and in time it may become available in Hungary as well. This can be especially relevant in price-sensitive markets, and ours is just like that.
Warner Bros. Discovery will endeavor to inform all subscribers of all important information regarding the transition over the next month. The company’s goal is to make everything run as smoothly as possible, and in addition to existing subscribers, it will acquire new customers with a more colorful offer and better service. Max will still remain one of the best offers for the domestic audience.
