American football player and actor OJ Simpson died on April 10 at the age of 76. Malcom LaVergne, the man’s lawyer, announced the cause of death two days later. Referring to the official medical opinion, the lawyer stated in his statement that the American star died of prostate cancer, the Daily Mail reported.

Simpson was diagnosed with the killer disease back in February, and although he underwent chemotherapy treatment, according to the testimony of the expert opinion, this was ineffective.

The former NFL player was previously reported to be in hospice care, but he later denied this himself, noting that no one can trust the media.

You have a life journey full of twists and turns behind you

OJ Simpson studied and played sports at the University of Southern California (USC), winning the Rose Bowl with his teammates in 1968, after which he received the Heisman Award, which has been awarded to the best college player since 1935. The Buffalo Bills selected him with the first pick in the 1969 NFL Draft.

He became the first player in NFL history in 1973, who passed the 2,000 rushing yard mark in one season. He averaged 143.1 yards per game then set a new record in the NFL, which has not been overturned to this day.

Simpson was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983, and in 1985 he was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

After retiring from football, Simpson began an acting career, and then came the infamous car chase murder case that was watched by all of America. Simpson In 1995, he was charged with the murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her boyfriend, Ron Goldman, but was acquitted, although he was found guilty in the civil suit.

Later, in 2007, however, he was convicted of armed robbery, and he wanted to recover the sports relics stolen from him with several friends, but their action in Las Vegas ended in kidnapping. During the 9 years he spent in prison, he received a pension of more than 600 thousand dollars from the NFL. OJ Simpson was allowed to leave prison in 2017.

Since his release from prison in October 2017, he has lived a golfing and country club life, occasionally posting sports and golfing-related posts on social media. His last message was on February 11, wearing a San Francisco 49ers jersey and predicting his old team would beat the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVIII. The Chiefs won.

Questions about his legacy

His attorney filed Simpson’s will in Nevada state court two days after his death, naming Simpson’s four children as the sole beneficiaries of the estate. He said the details of the family estate have not yet been released. The attorney declined to put a value on the estate, but said Simpson had no home in the states where he lived — including Nevada, California and Florida — and said the accounts are still being tallied.

But LaVergne acknowledged that Simpson died without paying his murdered ex-wife and the family of Ronald Goldman most of the $33.5 million judgment they were awarded in a 1997 civil liability case.

Attorney David Cook, who represents the Goldman family, said Tuesday he believed the judgment owed, including unpaid interest, is more than $114 million.

LaVergne responded by saying that the Goldmans won’t get a penny from Simpson’s fortune, then backtracked. He later stated that he believed the amount owed was more than $200 million. He said Simpson’s fortune was not worth that amount.
