The boy from Eger, who was struck by electricity on top of the wagon, is hovering between life and death

As our newspaper reported earlier, an unfortunate accident took place on April 25 in Eger. A 19-year-old boy who climbed onto the roof of a wagon at the Eger railway station was in a life-threatening condition due to an electric shock. The young man was so seriously injured that an ambulance helicopter was called to the scene, which transported him in a critical condition to the Budapest Military Hospital, where they are still fighting for his life.

The young graduate was taking photos with the wagons in the background with his two friends when he decided to climb on top of the wagon because he wanted to look inside the wagon. After he climbed up, he was shaken by the high-voltage current and fell from the assembly. His friends were very scared, but they reacted immediately. The ambulances were notified and, following the dispatcher’s instructions, they attended to their companion. The boys were very shaken by the incident. They also told Agria TV that when they went to their friend, the boy was still conscious and they even talked to him.

According to one of the boy’s acquaintances, the mother of the boy who suffered the accident told her son several times not to risk his life by climbing onto wagons.

According to our newspaper’s information, the severely burned boy is currently hovering between life and death, and his doctors are keeping him in an artificial coma.

This is not the first case

You could say that history repeated itself, because the same scene took place barely a year ago. On January 9, 2023, the 14-year-old Károly climbed onto a freight car at the Eger railway station and fell into a life-threatening condition, with 80% of his body burned. The teenager was brought down from the top of the wagon by the firefighters using a ladder. The young people were said to be in the company of an adult, 50-year-old man at the train station, originally going to a party.

Károly was transported to Bethesda Children’s Hospital, where a multi-member medical team fought for his life. However, the struggle of conscientious doctors ended after a while, Károly’s organization then gave up the fight.

Never, ever climb a train! We fight for the life of another burned young person with great effort in our burn intensive care unit. We fight because this is our profession. In addition, it is our vocation to shout out to the world: high voltage can pass without being touched

– they wrote after the accident Bethesda Children’s Hospital on the side.

There is high voltage in the railway overhead line, so experts ask everyone not to go near it, just as touching other parts of the network, i.e. poles and switches, is also life-threatening.
