Ahmed Ali Alid testified that he killed a 70-year-old British man in the street “for the people of Gaza”.
45-year-old Ahmed Ali Alid first tried to kill his flatmate who had converted to Christianity, who was sleeping when the man attacked him and stabbed him in the chest, writes the Sky News. The perpetrator then wandered the streets of Hartlepool, northern England, until he found 70-year-old Terence Carney, whom he stabbed several times.
Alid told the police that he committed the murder – a week after the Hamas attacks on Israel – for “the people of Gaza” and that he wanted to kill more people.
Alid told the court that he used to work as a confectioner and in 2007, after having trouble with local security agencies, he traveled from Morocco to Spain and visited 13 different European countries before arriving in Britain in 2020. He applied for asylum and spent the next three years living in a hotel in Hull and then in state-funded accommodation in a terraced house in Hartlepool, waiting for his claim to be heard.
By the way, Alid’s roommate, whom he later attacked, already informed the authorities that he was an extremist who sympathized with terrorists, but the police said that they could not do anything until the man threatened him.
Alid is not the first Islamist to roam Europe for years before striking, previously we wrote about Abdeslam Lassoued, who shot dead two people in Brussels and later declared himself a fighter of the Islamic State, that in the years before his attack he had almost traveled the entire continent, visited Sweden, He also lived in Italy and Belgium, although he could only stay in the latter country illegally, as his asylum application was rejected.
