The Guardian writes that amazing scenes took place in the European Parliament on Wednesday. Slovakian MEP Miroslav Radačovský spoke about peace, and when he reached into his bag, he took out a pigeon and set it free in the chamber.

As it turned out,

with this gesture, he wished peace to the Russians and Ukrainians, and to the whole world.

Said: “I would like to release this dove as a symbol of peace. As a symbol that Europe needs peace. Let this dove unite us all!”

They add: not everyone appreciated the sale. Caroline Roose, French MEP of the Greens, for example

called it unacceptable that Radačovský used a live animal as an object

to express his desire for peace. Maybe

this was the closest we got to a scene from a Monty Python movie in terms of absurdity.

“Can you catch the animal?” others asked as the pigeon flapped in the meeting room. The deputy speaker of the parliament added that he would report this to the president and emphasized:

“We hope the animal will be okay.”

It seems that there was no more talk of peace.
