--

In two decades more than doubled the number of wild animals killed, he announced Agroinform citing a statistic based on data processed between 1999 and 2022. As it was written, while a total of 3,191 wild game deaths were registered in the year before the last millennium, until In 2022, there will already be 7,405 roe deer, deer, mouflon and wild boar died on the country roads.

This is how domestic wildlife accidents develop

According to the paper, they most often hit deer the motorists. This is clearly shown by the accident statistics, according to which 78.3 percent of game victims fall victim e smaller-bodied ungulates – this means a total of 5,799 deer. The second most common big game run over is red deer with 12.2 percent, followed by wild boar with 5.5 percent and fallow deer with 3.8 percent.

More cars, more accidents

As they wrote, it would be difficult to determine why the number of big game run over has more than doubled in two decades, but they suspect that it is because the car is more too. According to data from the Central Statistical Office (KSH), the number of cars on the road has also doubled compared to 2000: in more than two decades From 2,364,706 to 4,094,129 rose.

This is how you can avoid trouble

As already mentioned in the Dívány also wrote it, although many wildlife accidents are really unavoidable, according to the police, we can prevent them by paying enough attention, being extra careful and reducing the speed of the vehicle. According to their advice,

if a large wild animal suddenly appears in front of the car, apply the emergency brake, sound the alarm, but do not pull the steering wheel aside, even if you hit the animal!

In many cases, the driver trying to avoid an accident pulls the steering wheel aside and drives off the road or collides with an oncoming vehicle, during which much more serious accident may occur. Experts also believe that we do a lot by taking it into account behind the wheel the life rhythm of animals, the change of seasons and signs indicating wildlife danger.

This is what we should do if we encounter an injured animal

If we see a dead or dying animal on the road, call the emergency number 112. Never try to pull the game off the road, it may still be alive and one scared animal can cause serious injury with its hooves or antlers. The animal will be transported by the visiting employee of the hunting company.
