Protecting the environment has become a priority issue these days, and this is precisely why more and more initiatives are being launched to relieve our Earth of harmful effects as efficiently as possible.

Meanwhile, we don’t want to give up on enjoying technical achievements, which, however, require a huge amount of energy. In order to create a balance between the two opposing efforts, it was necessary to create portable power sources such as those available from thebatteryshop.eu’s lithium-ion cell range.

What does the Li-ion battery cell offer?

In life, we use these batteries as a source of energy in many areas that we certainly use and encounter every day. Examples include mobile phones and electric vehicles. Since their energy demand is also increasing, it is important that Li-ion cells do not stop developing, but can become more and more efficient. Let’s see how they can do it!

Energy and density?

In order to be able to store as much energy as possible in batteries with the same size and weight, the issue of energy density is important. Mainly because we want our lithium-ion battery to be able to operate for as long as possible on a single charge. This will of course determine how much we can continuously use our smartphone and how far we can go with our electric car.

In order to improve the performance of Li-ion cells in this regard, many innovations have been made in the recent period. One such example is the use of silicon anodes. Thanks to the development, it becomes possible to provide the current capacity with smaller and lighter battery cells, and to achieve a longer operating time with the same parameters.

Increasing durability

The other important goal, which the experts are constantly working on, is to make the already long-lasting lithium-ion cells able to withstand creasing even longer, and preferably to do this in such a way that their performance decreases as little as possible. By doing this, we will be able to reduce the environmental impact, since it will be necessary to replace the batteries less often.

Faster full charging

Lithium-ion battery cells are also expected to be able to reach their maximum charge as soon as possible. This is also an exciting area of development because it all has to be implemented in such a way that neither safety nor durability is adversely affected because of it. It only takes a few minutes to reach an 80% charge, which is a huge improvement for electric vehicle owners, for example, since it will be less of a problem to cover long distances.
