The president of the European Commission spoke for the last time in front of the current composition of the European Parliament, as the legislative cycle ends this week. Ursula von der Leyen said: they have been through hell, but in many ways they are stronger than five years ago. According to the Fidesz member of the European Parliament, the president of the European Commission lives in an alternative reality.

Ursula von der Leyen arrived at the European Parliament in a cheerful mood on Tuesday. The President of the European Commission spoke about economic topics, among other things. He said: the EU has been through hell, but in many ways it is stronger than it was five years ago.

“The challenges caused by the coronavirus epidemic and the Russian-Ukrainian war could have turned into a dramatic economic and social crisis. But thanks to Europe’s great resilience and the introduction of appropriate policies, this did not happen” said Ursula von der Leyen.

The President of the European Commission lives in an alternative reality

– this is how the Fidesz EP representative reacted. Enikő Győri reminded that there is a war going on next door, energy prices have skyrocketed and people have been feeling the effects of the failed sanctions for two years now.

“To claim, and he uttered this sentence, that the union is in a better condition than 5 years ago, is a serious audacity, political blindness and clearly shows the attitude of the European Commission to what people otherwise experience in their everyday lives” – explained Enikő Győri, the Fidesz EP representative.

Ursula von der Leyen spoke for the last time before the current composition of the board. However, work is still ongoing in the EP. In the closing session, the representatives set a record: they voted on 90 resolutions in Strasbourg. The haste is no accident, there are just over 40 days left until the EP elections.

Today, it is mandatory to take a pro-war position in the European Union

– said the leader of the list in the European Parliament of Fidesz-KDNP.

Tamás Deutsch put it this way: this is clearly demonstrated by the amendment proposal that was voted on on Tuesday. In it, the EP urges the committee and member states to speed up the production of ammunition and their delivery to Ukraine.

“It is mandatory to spend even more money on killing in Ukraine instead of meaningful developments, it is mandatory to deliver even more weapons, ammunition, air defense equipment, anti-missile systems to Ukraine. And anyone who takes a stand against this may face more serious political and, as the language reveals, legal consequences than ever before” – detailed Tamás Deutsch, leader of the Fidesz-KDNP list in the European Parliament.

However, people want peace instead of war

– this was revealed from recent public opinion research. This, however, requires change. Many people therefore also doubt that Ursula von der Leyen can get another presidential term. The politician was already embroiled in a scandal in connection with the Pfizer purchases.

Those who performed poorly and got their voters into trouble must leave – the Prime Minister spoke about this in the past few days. Viktor Orbán said: the leadership in Brussels has declared bankruptcy, and there must be consequences for this.

“They don’t deserve another chance, change is needed in Brussels” Viktor Orbán emphasized.

Meanwhile, more and more member states are criticizing the Union.

According to 28 percent of Austrians, it is a disadvantage to belong to the European Union – this was revealed in a survey. The result was announced by the Index. The paper put it this way: it is increasingly obvious that our western neighbor has started to turn away from Brussels.

Five wasted years are behind us, the European Union has failed in its crisis management, is weak and divided, change is needed in Brussels in June – declared Enikő Győri, a member of the European Parliament (EP) of Fidesz in Strasbourg on Tuesday.

Speaking to Hungarian journalists during the break of the EP plenary session, Enikő Győri stated that Ursula von der Leyen “lives in an alternative reality”, because the President of the European Commission said that the European Union is in a better state than five years ago.

The statement is serious audacity, political blindness, completely detached from reality, and clearly shows the attitude of the European Commission towards what people experience in their everyday lives, he pointed out.

The decision-makers in Brussels are reacting to the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine, which has now become critical, with World War II preparations, despite the fact that the strategy of weapons deliveries has been a total failure in recent years, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó stated on Monday in Luxembourg.

According to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the head of the department reported at the press conference held during the break of the European Union’s Foreign Affairs Council that the situation on the battlefield has now become critical from the point of view of Ukraine, that they are at an increasing disadvantage against Russia, from which a very dangerous conclusion is drawn in Brussels, and that “world war is being prepared”. react, almost all the participants of the meeting talked about the future of weapons deliveries, a kind of desperate stockpile sweep.

So, practically, Brussels’ reaction to the worsening situation on the battlefield from the Ukrainian point of view is to transport as many weapons as possible, many hundreds of thousands, many millions of ammunition and weapons, worth many billions of euros, even though we know very well that this strategy has completely failed. in the last two years, he opined.

Arms transfers did not bring us closer to peace, did not improve Ukraine’s situation on the battlefield, in fact, on the contrary (…) Arms transfers can only prolong the war and further increase the risk of a world war escalation” he added.

He stated: therefore, the government’s conclusion is completely different, according to which it is necessary to strengthen peace efforts, diplomacy must take the place of arms deliveries, this is the only way to prevent new victims and destruction.

So we Hungarians are ready to discuss any peace plan. But it must also be made clear that peace conferences can only be successful if everyone involved in the war is present.” he warned.

Péter Szijjártó stated that pressure from Brussels can be expected to intensify, and in this connection he underlined that the preparation of the fourteenth package of sanctions against Russia has begun. “I don’t exactly understand that if something totally fails thirteen times, then why should you try the same thing fourteen times” he said.

He emphasized that the punitive measures caused more damage to Europe than to Russia, that the inhabitants of the continent had to pay the price, including the Hungarian people, while they had no responsibility whatsoever for the outbreak of the war.

That is why I made it clear once again that, despite all the pressure, we will not support a single sanction that would make the Hungarian people pay the price of this war in the future.” – He told.

The minister stated that the reason for the starkly different assessments of the situation is that in Brussels and in many other European capitals they think that this is their war as well.

I think that this is not only a very dangerous, but also a false approach, because Europe is not at war. Europe was not attacked. Not a single European Union or NATO member country was attacked” he noted.

He also added that Hungary does not see the situation that way and considers it of primary importance to stay out of the armed conflict.

In addition, according to his words, there is currently a kind of bidding mood in the EU, they are trying to outbid NATO and the United States, and they perceive the aid to Ukraine as bad competition, which is a huge problem.

Finally, regarding the situation in the Middle East, he announced that there was agreement on the extension of sanctions against Iran due to the recent attack on Israel.

He welcomed the responsible behavior of the Arab countries and spoke again about preventing the escalation of the conflict, while maintaining regional stability.

In response to a journalist’s question regarding the hostage of Hungarian-Israeli dual citizenship who is still being held by the terrorist organization Hamas, he stated that a few weeks ago he received information that the person concerned was alive.

The Fidesz politician emphasized: there is a war in Europe’s neighborhood, energy prices and inflation have skyrocketed, and the whole of Europe has been drinking the juice of the failed sanctions for two years now. The European Commission adopted economic policy measures on an ideological basis, and it is unable to adapt the green policy and the digital transition to the changed realities and make them more reasonable. The state of EU competitiveness can be called a crisis, he said.

The six-month Hungarian presidency of the Council of the European Union, starting on July 1st, will treat the issue of competitiveness as a top priority, and will focus on reducing internal market barriers and creating a level playing field, Enikő Győri pointed out.

He noted: only 36 percent of the funds of the EU fund for recovery after the coronavirus epidemic have been paid to the member states, and by the fact that Hungary has not been disbursed from the funds at all, the EU has created an unequal playing field, harming European competitiveness.
