According to Trump, if TikTok is banned, Biden will be responsible. According to Trump, the ban would only make Meta even richer.

The USA continues to tighten and restrict more and more on many fronts, and the case of TikTok and its possible ban has been a topic of politics there for a long time.

The case is now at the stage where the American House of Representatives voted: ByteDance would be given 9 months to separate its American operations so that TikTok could be transferred to an American company – otherwise, TikTok would be banned in the country. The draft will thus go before the Senate, and if it passes there, President Joe Biden has already indicated several times that it will become law because he will sign it.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said in this regard that Biden wants to ban TikTok and that he will be responsible if this happens. In this regard, he asked the voters to remember this. He added that this would make the managers at Meta even richer and more influential. He urged younger voters (who are mostly TikTok users) to take note.

Trump says banning TikTok would only strengthen Meta.

Several newspapers pointed out that when Trump was president in 2020, he himself wanted to ban TikTok and WeChat for national security reasons, but the courts did not allow it.

TikTok says it does not share any US user data with the Chinese government, and that a ban would trample on free speech in violation of the law. According to reports, they are already preparing for legal action.

According to the White House, they do not want to ban TikTok and its peers, but to ensure that it goes to the American company and that the sensitive data of the residents remains there, and that no one manipulates them with algorithms (the spokesperson strongly aimed at China several times).

As the US elections approach, similar issues can become very serious and very divisive political topics, not only because of the policies, practices and behaviors of the platforms, but also because of the campaigns themselves, the politicians and their goals.

Incidentally, Meta banned Trump on January 6, 2021, and re-enabled his account last year. In February of this year, Biden’s re-election campaign also launched on TikTok, but Trump’s campaign did not.
