Two golds and valuable positions from the national finals of the student Olympics for swimmers

--

Last weekend, the National Student Olympic finals for swimmers were held at the Budapest Gyarmati Dezső Sports Swimming Pool for certified athletes. At the event, the primary and secondary school students of Békés County won two gold medals and other good positions.

At the one-day competition organized by the Hungarian Student Sports Association, young people who had previously fought for the right to start at the county final could start. This time, the finals were held for those who were mostly certified competitors of one of the swimming clubs, but now, by starting in the colors of their school, they enhanced the reputation of their institution.

By the way, there were finals in the super, eight-lane swimming pool equipped with an electric timer on Máriaremete Street, where nearly eighty people started, so it is understandable that our smaller homeland was also represented by more than two dozen competitors, those who had previously successfully participated in the county finals.

The names of two athletes from Gyula definitely want to be at the top, as Petra Cseresznyés and Gábor Abrudán won a gold medal each. The former is a student of the Erkel Ferenc High School and College, the latter is younger, thus a student of the Dürer Albert Primary School. However, they have so much in common that they both triumphed in the backstroke.

Békéscsaba’s Izabell Nagy-Benedek, Berta Perza, and János Szabó also finished in points, i.e. among the top eight, in the individual competitions, and the 4×50 meter mixed relay team from Erkel finished in sixth place.
