13:08: THIS CROWD EXPLODES! ZACH HYMAN OPENS THE SCORING IN GAME 1! McDavid makes an amazing spin move coming into the zone and finds Hyman in between the circles, who hits it five-hole on Talbot after it was originally knocked down by a Kings’ stick. Advantage Edmonton, 1-0 in the first period.
15:19: Draisaitl nutmegs a defenseman on the rush to create a breakaway, but it’s broken up by a good defensive stick on the backtrack. What a terrific move by the German.
16:52: Too close to an opening goal for Edmonton. Hyman backhands one through the crease that grazes a piece of the left post before Henrique throws it back across and into the back of Talbot’s legs, avoiding disaster for the Kings early in this game that’s started off with good tempo. Both netminders have had to come up with some big early saves and some heavy hits have been thrown.
