Do not take baby birds and other baby animals, fawns, rabbit, chipmunk and squirrel babies, wild pigs home! asks the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Association (MME).

In its statement sent to MTI, the association wrote that the season of mass nesting of nestlings will soon begin, and people can meet lonely-looking nestlings in settlements, streets, and parks.

The best solution is to carefully hold the nestling sitting in the open and place it in the nearest patch of dense undergrowth, under a bush.

Domestic bird species do not smell, so our touch does not cause problems. In the case of broken nests and nestlings that have fallen out in stormy weather, the best rescue solution is to help the parents by planting the young ones that have gone through the pores in a reed basket and placing them between branches, they informed.

It is a general characteristic of small and medium-sized bird species that their young leave the nest before they are fully capable of flight and invite their feeding parents by hiding in the dense undergrowth of the area. People mostly come across such feathered, non-running away, lonely-looking chicks sitting on the ground in the street, in the park, in the garden, often chirping loudly.

The MME drew attention to the fact that, despite appearances, these young people are not orphans, their parents looking for food are somewhere nearby.

It is unnecessary and, in fact, especially harmful for the birds to take them home, because people cannot teach the chicks the behaviors that are essential for their survival.

Fawns, rabbits, chipmunks and squirrel cubs found on excursions lying motionless waiting for their parents should not be touched because of their good-smelling parents, the association emphasizes.
