The police are sure that, despite the supremacy of Milan in the fans (since the home team is on the red and black paper), even in the event of a victory for Inter, they will not get into the public celebration scandal.
The black and blues clearly dominate the current schedule, playing 32 games and leading their city rivals by 14 points. This means that if they beat Milan today, they will surely finish as gold medalists, as the difference would increase to 17 points with five rounds to go, any other result would postpone the championship.
There is no concern within the ranks of the police regarding the meeting that starts at 8:45 p.m., and there is a good reason for this.
The derby has been peaceful for more than four decades
La Gazzetta dello Sport pointed out that, unlike other derbies, there is no need to fear this one in Milan thanks to the pact signed by the two camps.
As a result, the clashes between the urban rivals have been peaceful since 1981, although there was a precedent for this:
the rivalry between the ancient rivals (enemies?) reached such proportions that in 1981 a 21-year-old Inter fan, Vittore Palmieri, lost his life near the San Siro.
The parties then entered into a “non-combat” agreement to prevent a repeat of the bloodshed, which is still in place:
The pact is a guarantee for everyone, otherwise the streets of Milan would become a battlefield
– the Corriere della Sera quotes the leader of the Inter-ultras, Marco Ferdico.
