Zelensky does not believe that Trump as president would pressure Ukraine to make territorial concessions to Putin

Ukraine may have a chance to win after the lower house of the US Legislature approved the almost 61 billion dollar aid package, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a recent interview with American NBC television.

During the conversation, Zelensky urged the upper house of the Congress to quickly vote on the legislation containing the military aid, because the necessary weapon systems must reach the Ukrainian army as soon as possible. As he said, there is now the greatest demand for long-range weapons and air defense equipment. According to him, with the new support they will be able to stabilize the situation on the battlefield and take back the initiative from the Russians.

Regarding the strategy for ending the war, the Ukrainian president said that it should not be “based on the words of Putin and his entourage, but on something that is detailed and tangible for an independent and democratic Ukraine.” According to him, the assumption that Donald Trump, if elected US president in November, will put pressure on Ukraine to make territorial concessions to Russia in order to end the war is just “rumour”. Zelensky said he “doesn’t believe that.”

According to Zelensky, “the United States does not have to fight to protect NATO countries, because the Ukrainians will do it, and the civilized world should only provide the necessary equipment for the fight.” He believes that the amount spent on the Ukrainian war is not wasted money, because the Americans are protecting the freedom and democracy of Europe.

On Saturday, the US House of Representatives approved a $60.8 billion (about HUF 23,000 billion) package on the continuation of support for Ukraine, which will allow for the resumption of regular US military deliveries to the Ukrainian forces after an almost 4-month hiatus.

About 50 billion dollars from the aid package will be allocated to the defense of the country at war with Russia, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Smihal said on Facebook on Sunday. Part of the remaining amount, 7.8 billion dollars, is intended to support the public finances. Another 1.57 billion dollars will be used as economic aid, and 400 million dollars will be spent on border protection and demining, Smihal wrote, emphasizing that the funds will also be used to restore vital infrastructure, as Russia has recently increasingly targeted Ukraine’s energy facilities, causing serious damage. caused by
