The Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) issued an arrest warrant for causing a road accident. According to the available data, the Volkswagen Touareg heading towards the city from the direction of the airport was driven by Iavorschi Nicolai, a 21-year-old Moldovan citizen, and he and his seven Nepalese passengers fled the scene, the Aren police said.

The BRFK also announced that proceedings were also initiated against the man for human trafficking.

On April 18 at around 10 p.m., the Budapest XVIII. district, at the height of Billentyű utca, on the section of highway 4 leading to Ferenc Liszt International Airport, he crashed into an oncoming car. A middle-aged man and woman are in the car with Hungarian license plates on site lost his life, the driver and passengers of the vehicle with a foreign license plate fled, two people in the car behind them were slightly injured.

In addition to the Moldovan man, seven Nepali citizens (six men and one woman) are wanted for failure to render aid. They were in the van at the time of the accident.

The Metropolitan Disaster Management Directorate announced in a statement that two people were freed from one of the cars with the help of tension-cutting equipment, and then handed over to the rescuers. The circumstances of the accident are being investigated by the Budapest Police Headquarters as part of criminal proceedings.
