“Due to the loss of revenue, the price increase is essential to maintain the level and quality of the current services. The price increase does not apply to passes for people between the ages of 6 and 18,” added Mayor Matúš Vallo.

He said that the 20 percent increase corresponds to the inflation of the past two years, the last time ticket prices rose in 2021. “In practice, the increase means that, for example, the price of a half-hour ticket will increase from 0.90 to 1.10 euros. The annual pass will cost 239 euros instead of 199 euros,” the mayor continued.
The price of the so-called five-zone basic ticket, for example, is 0.40 euros more expensive from Miloslavov. The representatives of IDS BK said that if they did not decide in favor of the price increase, various restrictions should have been introduced, for example, cancellation of flights, fewer flights, downsizing in the maintenance departments, and several transfers on some lines.
“At the current prices, we would not have been able to guarantee the current quality of travel, nor the development of the capital’s public transport,” stated Martin Rybanský, chairman of the DPB board.
