Valve’s stock market has ordered a crackdown after they were able to exploit a bug for a long time.

Many have discovered a loophole in Steam’s refund policy for pre-purchased products, which allowed players to request a refund without actually playing the title. However, this has now been put to an end by a policy update, reports IGN.

Valve’s gaming platform allows users to request a refund within 14 days of purchase if they haven’t played the title for more than 2 hours – this will also remove the game from the library.

However, there was a flaw in this system.

If someone pre-purchased a game and its developer offered priority access, i.e. it was possible to push even before the official release, then it was possible to play the entire creation and then ask for the money back, hvg adds.

Game time during Priority Access was not included in Steam’s refund period until now. From now on, this period is also included in the two-hour limit for refunds, but the 14-day refund period still only starts on the day of publication.
