The recently rebranded Human Mobile Devices (HMD) has unveiled its first ‘own-brand’ range of smartphones after more than seven years of manufacturing and selling devices under the Nokia brand.
The company revealed in 2023 that the Nokia and plans to market the devices under its own name in September, along with devices from other partners. After that, in collaboration with the toy manufacturer Mattel, he promoted a Barbie brand phoneas well as a basic promotional device with the Heineken logo.
The HMD Pulse range consists of a standard, a Pro and a Plus version, two of which are available now, with the Pro coming soon. All three devices are advertised with their repairability, a feature strongly emphasized in the latest members of the Nokia product line. According to HMD’s forecast, 75 percent of devices sold in Europe will be repairable this year, compared to 33 percent in 2023.
Lars Silberbauer, HMD’s CMO noted that the fix is ”a cornerstone of a new chapter in smartphone innovation,” that the company has recognized consumer demand and is anticipating market trends in this area. In terms of hardware, HMD says the trio includes “high-end specs at a mid-range price,” highlighting the top-end Pulse Pro model’s high-quality selfie camera and the other two models’ 59-hour battery life. The trio has a 6.65-inch display, a 5000 mAh battery and a Unisoc T606 chipset. The range runs Android 14, which is not 5G compatible.
The HMD Pulse Pro comes with 50-megapixel front and rear cameras, with an additional unit on the back. The standard model has a 13MP main lens as part of the dual setup, while the Plus has a 50MP rear camera, but a lower-quality front-facing unit than the Pro.
