THE Phantom FuryIn , Shelly returns, with whom we can embark on a campaign of revenge in addition to eradicating a threat to humanity after Aftershock.

It was last published in October of last year, with a delay of about a year Ion Fury: Aftershock speaking of, we were able to face Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison one last time with her old antagonist, Dr. Heskell, whose life we then definitively (?) ended this period of her life full of squeamishness. Now, on the other hand, our protagonist is trying to roll up a completely different mess, but in its initial phase, all we know about its chronology is that, compared to the previous events, the events are years later. DLC take place after Our setting is a super-secret laboratory in the USA, where our hero wakes up from a coma and discovers that his arm has been replaced with a mechanical limb. However, it is not yet known who can be held responsible and how he lost it. But he makes contact with his clients, who announce that a terrible apocalypse awaits the entire population of the planet as a whole.

After 2016’s Bombshell, Slipgate Ironworks once again took the fate of the franchise into their hands. The development company was not idle around this time, the psychological and financial damage of which was sometimes mostly felt by the players. They recently came out of Early Access with the full versions of GRAVEN and WRATH: Aeon of Ruin, but the Kingpin: Reloaded they orchestrated one of the most unnecessary remakes of all time. THE Phontom Fury its development was officially started sometime around 2022, but the originally planned appearance was followed by a slippage – for understandable reasons. Our current action FPS, thanks to the close appearances of the two Fury episodes, is an interesting thing to compare, if only because in terms of content, the difference between them is almost like heaven and earth.

It’s sad, but it’s not so surprising that Phantom Fury basically doesn’t come up with anything new in terms of gameplay and genre. Taking up arms with Shelly, we go into “battle” against evil soldiers and mutant creatures: body parts fly back and forth depending on the location of the hit, which was spectacularly successful. Quite a few of our attack tools come back from the previous parts: for example, the electric stick, the pistol or the machine gun, as a new weapon, the duck welded on us and the freezing muzzle, with which we can freeze anyone to ice in seconds, proved to be particularly effective. In relation to all of this, the only significant innovation is that we can now spec each of them together with our character on the designated computers, provided that we have previously received the appropriate number of purple vials.

The development of the tracks is not comparable to the ones seen in Ion Fury. Compared to Voidpoint’s masterpiece, we are dealing with a much more linear gameplay. There are no secret corners anywhere, only areas where you can jump up (and get the reward), and the funny pop culture winks have been drastically reduced – although the arcade machines were not shot this time either. Meanwhile, the aiming skills of our enemies are not very steely, and corpses often spin around, but even in their living state they run around idly – like a throwback to the thugs moving back and forth from Radio City. Sometimes we can control cars, cranes, and even cannons, which may have been intended to evoke the Half-Life games. Sometimes it’s good for a lot of tapping, but somehow I got the feeling that the creators didn’t understand exactly what type of shooter they wanted to come up with.

Despite some negatives, Phantom Fury was fun overall, but it relies on clichéd solutions quite often, that is, it mostly consists of them. The one-liners are still edgy and, thankfully, he doesn’t take himself too seriously.
